April 27th, 2009 – Wednesday, April 29th will mark President Obama’s 100th day in office. Top Democrats hope to have hammered out a compromise on the proposed $3.6 Trillion Federal budget that includes funding for health care reform by Wednesday.
Included in the Health Reform initiative is a requirement that everyone that can afford health insurance must buy it. Arguably, this may help to reduce costs for the public by increasing the size of the risk pool. Even so, the Federal price tag will be tremendous as funding must be provided to pay for subsidies for people that can’t afford health insurance.
Montana Senator Max Baucus said he is hopeful of reaching a bipartisan consensus and has been working to get support from other senators, health analysts and industry officials.
