November 5th, 2015 – Health insurance open enrollment season begins next week across the state of Colorado. Open enrollment officially opens November 15th and closes February 15th, 2015.
This is a message worth sharing, as a new poll said that nine in 10 uninsured people surveyed did not known that enrollment starts this month. Under most circumstances, open enrollment is the only time you can change individual/family plans during the year.
Colorado Health Insurance Brokers’ licensed agents, all certified producers of Connect for Health Colorado, are helping clients review hundreds of health insurance plan options both on and off the public exchange.
According to company President, Mark Erickson, “Many people are seeing insurance premiums increasing next year and open enrollment is the best time to review options to find the plan that offers the best fit for monthly premiums versus plan benefits and provider access.” Benefit needs and financial circumstances often change from one year to the next, which necessitates a comprehensive health insurance review.
Nearly 150,000 people in Colorado are eligible for federal tax credits that reduce the cost of their health insurance premiums. Because the tax credits are calculated based upon the premiums of the second lowest cost Silver plan and premiums decreased on many of those plans for the coming year, this caused out of pocket premium costs for many consumers to increase in 2015.
Also, over 22,000 people in Colorado are receiving cancellation notices, so it’s critically important for those people to review their options for the coming year.
Considering the hundreds of plan options along with changes in tax credits, monthly premiums, provider networks and prescription drug coverage in 2015, it’s wise to get professional guidance to help you make an informed plan selection.
Colorado Health Insurance Brokers services are 100% FREE and there is no extra cost or mark-up. Whether you get your health insurance through us, another agent/broker or directly from the insurance exchange or insurance carrier, you’ll pay the exact same monthly premium for the same plan, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the best available price.
