November 3rd, 2017 – Open enrollment for 2018 began this week on November 1st, 2017 and runs through January 12th, 2018. However, to get a January 1st start date on a new policy, enrollments and plan changes should be completed by December 15th.
2018 will have the same carriers as 2017, although Cigna is ending it’s Vantage plans and most other carriers also have some non-renewing plans. The carriers offering individual plans in 2018 include: Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bright Health Insurance, Cigna, Elevate by Denver Health, Friday Health Plans (formerly Colorado Choice), Kaiser and Rocky Mountain HMO.
The rates in Colorado went up way more than normal in 2018 for all the carriers, due to political uncertainty for the Affordable Care Act and the government’s de-funding of Cost Sharing Reductions.
Those eligible for federal tax credits will receive government help to offset the rate increases and in some cases may see their premiums decrease. Cost Sharing Reductions are still available to those who qualify.
Colorado Health Insurance Brokers is ready to assist consumers with 2018 health insurance quotes both through Connect for Health Colorado and directly from the insurers. This year we can also quote lower priced faith based health sharing ministry plans as well.
