Otherwise, on-exchange open enrollment for the 2015 season closed February 15th. With the exception of direct enrollment options available through February 28th most people who buy their own insurance are effectively be locked into their current situation until open enrollment re-opens on October 1st, 2015. However, certain life changes may trigger a qualifying event for a Special Enrollment Period, that can allow people to get insurance outside of open enrollment.
Feb 25th, 2015 – Breaking News… You may have heard the announcement about the Special Enrollment Period for the Federally-facilitated Marketplaces (HealthCare.gov) beginning March 15 through April 30. While state-based Exchanges like Connect for Health Colorado have the flexibility to determine if they will establish a similar special enrollment period, as of today no programs have been announced for Coloradans.
