March 3rd, 2023 – SelectHealth, a not-for-profit health insurance company based in Utah, has announced its proposed expansion Colorado, targeting the Individual and Medicare Advantage markets in 2024, pending Colorado Division of Insurance approval.
SelectHealth is expected to launch in around 16 to 18 counties in Colorado’s Front Range, roughly mirroring UCHealth’s and Intermountain’s health systems’ geography.
SelectHealth, a not-for-profit health insurance company based in Utah, is part of Intermountain Healthcare, who entered Colorado last year through Intermountain’s merger with SCL Health, a Colorado-based healthcare system.
SelectHealth announced a partnership with UC Health, a Colorado-based healthcare system. The new partnership will allow SelectHealth members to access UC Health’s network of hospitals, clinics, and physicians in Colorado. UC Health is a leading healthcare provider in Colorado that includes several hospitals, including University of Colorado Hospital, as well as dozens of primary care and specialty clinics throughout the state.
Through this partnership, SelectHealth members will have access to UC Health’s full range of healthcare services, including advanced medical treatments, research, and clinical trials.
Overall, SelectHealth’s entry into Colorado is good news for consumers, as it provides more options for healthcare coverage and promotes competition among insurers. As the company continues to expand, it will be interesting to see how it adapts to the unique challenges and opportunities of the Colorado market and if delivers on its promise of high-quality and affordable healthcare coverage.
