A new article said that the current economic crisis is expected to reduce the number of small business group health insurance policies in force.
According to a new study by CSC, 54% of health plan executives expect to see a downturn in small group plans, whereas only 31% expected a downturn in large group health insurance policies.
In Colorado we are already starting to see some small businesses advise their employees to independently purchase their own health insurance policies. This can be an attractive option for those employees who can afford to pay their own premiums.
However, for employees that may have pre-existing health conditions individual plans may not be a good fit because they are medically underwritten.
