April 28th, 2009 – The name Kathleen Sebelius may sound familiar to our Colorado readers, as she is Governor of neighboring Kansas. Today Governor Sebelius was confirmed as our nation’s Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Sebelius was the last of President Obama’s cabinet nominees to be confirmed. Her confirmation met with opposition that was tempered by the need to fill the post due to America’s public health emergency as the swine flu sickening dozens of Americans across the country.
In addition to dealing with the swine flue outbreak, Kathleen Sebelius is charged with overseeing President Obama’s proposed $2.5 trillion overhaul of America’s health care system.
